I've been greatly influenced not only by the books I've read, but most of all by the people I've met in my own search for a full life. I feel I share with my friends the commitment to keep growing and to embrace life to its fullest, although most of the time we haven't the faintest idea where the next step might take us.

I've met Paul Squassoni in February 2005 while on vacation on Hawaii. There is a generosity in his spirit that I reacted intuitively to and later understood that it was grounded in a full personal life with extensive travel. We share a passion for photography, though I doubt I will ever match Paul’s dedication to perfection. Have a look at his travel website for samples of his work. http://www.longitudes.com |

Peter Hammond is now an Emeritus Professor of Anthropology at UCLA. I've met Peter several years ago as part of a conversation group for gay men. He is proof to me that a full and rewarding life can be lived independent of age. Peter's page at UCLA |

Mike Foster teaches social work at California State University Long Beach. I admire his commitment to his friends, his glorious spirit, and his ongoing exploration of his own life. I hope we will all be able to continue to grow like he. Mike's Page at Cal State Long Beach |

I've known Aimee Wyatt for over ten years when I rented a room in her beautiful house in Glendale, CA. Over the years I have gotten to know her as an ethusiastic world traveler, dedicated marathon runner, and a woman that takes nothing for granted. One of her personal mottos: "It's an AND world not an OR world. It's not a question of whether you can get vanilla or chocolate icecream. You should always get vanilla AND chocolate!" |

Siuan McGahan, was born in Dublin, Ireland, studied Mathematics and Philosophy at UCLA and then took a job at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in engineering where we met. I got to know her better when she asked me to play a small role in a gay-themed independent movie (“Choosing Courses”). She really inspired me when she decided to leave JPL to pursue a full-time career as a painter and more recently as the lead-singer in the indie rock band The Renders. She also has her own art website: http://www.siuan.com |

In his day job, Country/Americana storyteller Marc Kuchner works as an astronomer for NASA. He started writing songs sitting alone at an observatory on a California mountaintop waiting for the sky to clear. Now he is a John Lennon Songwriting Contest and Dallas Songwriters Association contest winner, and a proud regular on the Broadjam top 10s. I've met Marc as a fellow graduate student in astronomy when I was looking for someone who could write and produce the original sound track for a documentary on the Palomar Observatory that I was shooting together with another graduate student. To my mind Marc is an example how two apparently opposite talents can be pursued quite happily at the same time. |
